just wonderin...who do you pay music royalties to when using classical music in a film? thanx for any help

um, I really appreciate that but thats not what I asked. Maybe I should rephrase...When using classical music in a film such as "Fur Elise" for example, is it still necassary to pay someone or are old classical songs like that up for grabs?

From what I understand, the music itself is public domain, but the recording is likely to be copyrighted, so you'd have to pay whoever did the recording.
However, you could record it yourself and that's perfectly legal.

There is no copyright after 50 years of the autor's deaf
